Harrison Ford wanted for Jackie Robinson biopic 42
We've almost forgotten how awesome Harrison Ford used to be, but a new role in biopic 42 has the potential to restore his career...
With a pile of disappointing roles behind him at the end of 2011, we're not the only one's hoping Harrison Ford does something a little more exciting next year. Extraordinary Measures, Morning Glory and Cowboys and Aliens all bombed either critically or commercially, and Han Solo and Indiana Jones seem but a distant memory.
Now, the actor is being courted for the role of Branch Rickey in Brian Helgeland's developing Jackie Robinson biopic, 42. It's one of the film's key roles, as it explores how the baseball player smashed his way to the big leagues, despite the prejudice levelled against him because of his skin colour.
Rickey was an executive at Brooklyn Dodgers, the team that first signed Robinson. It was previously thought that Jack Nicholson would take the role, and Robert Redford was also a contender at one point. It's a nice meaty role that has the potential to bring Ford out of his funk, so here's hoping he takes the opportunity.
