May Fung Yee Pang was born in October 24, 1950 in New York City. Her parents were Chinese immigrants. Her mother owned a Chinese laundry. They had lived in a tenement building in Spanish Harlem until they were torn down. The later moved to 97 street and Third avenue in Manhattan. May had gone to New York Community college, and later tried to dabble into modeling. She met John and Yoko Lennon and was hired to be a production assistant and coordinator.

Eventually John and May had rented a house in Santa Monica and lived there with some other musicians who were also working on the same album. At this time, May Pang suggested to John to rekindle his relationship with his son Julian, who he had not seen for 4 years. She also suggested that John meet up with Paul McCartney too. John had followed her suggestion and since the relationships between John and his son Julian and with Paul McCartney were once again back on track.May was also with John in Montawk, Long Island when he found a Scottish cottage in 1775 that he decided to buy. John and May were together as a couple for 18 months, until February, 1975 when John and Yoko had gotten back together again. May Pang asserts that she and John were still lovers until 1977.
May had written a book that was published in 1983, "Loving John." about her relations with Mr Lennon. Today May lives in upstate New York with her two children from a previous marriage.
