Lennon author talks about upcoming event at Shreve Memorial Library March 10

Jude Southerland Messler with Maria Colon of Shreve Memorial Library. Jude will give a talk about Lennon and her books on March 10, 2012

March 5, 2012 – If you love John Lennon and will be in Louisana this weekend, head over to Shreve Memorial Library on March 10 from 2-4pm. Jude Southerland Kessler, author of Lennon bio-novels Shoulda Been There and Shivering Inside, will be giving a presentation and book signing about John Lennon and the Beatles.

Jude gave us the details about this exciting Lennon event, saying the presentation will be different from prior book talks. “It will consist of three segments,” she said. “First I will discuss my research techniques, tell about some funny interviews I did in Liverpool, and why I chose to write this series (of Lennon novels).” The presentation will turn lively with rare photos, music, and Ms. Kessler's re-enactment of a 1963 scene in her book. A book signing will follow a Q&A with the author.
Jude Southerland Kessler gave an inspiring talk about John Lennon entitled, "Everything in life I learned from NSU and the Beatles" in November of 2011.

She said, “Rande (her husband) will be showing a coordinated Power Point with rare Beatles photos. We'll also have musical segments. (When John steps up to the mic and sings, you'll hear it.) I'm going to be re-enacting a scene where John is in EMI recording Arthur Alexander's 'Baby, It's You,' a song for Julia! (part of the Feb. 11, 1963 chapter)”

She will have copies of both books there to sign. She added,“I'll also have Rande's Doors of Liverpool Posters. I'd love to see Beatles fans of all ages come for the music, the Beatles photos, and the magic of going back in time and spending an afternoon with John. We'll make it "a happening!"

She recently donated copies of her Lennon books to the library (see photo with library manager Maria Colon.)

As we have reported previously, Ms. Kessler has spent 20 years researching Lennon’s life and has become one of the top scholars on his history. If you have ever seen one of Jude’s talks at the Fest For Beatles Fans, or other book talks, then you know how engaging her presentations are.

Check out this video of her speaking at Northwestern University last November. (See You tube video left) Jude’s approach presents John Lennon as an inspirational figure that kept the Beatles motivated to reach the “toppermost of the poppermost,” even when they were forced to play all night long in a sweaty Hamburg gig, then sleep behind the stage with no showers.

The upcoming event will be held at the Broadmoor branch of the Shreve Memorial Library, 1212 Captain Shreve Drive, Shreveport, LA.
